What are your daily tasks?
Most of the time, our consultants tell me what our customers need, which tables I have to use and which processes are the ones to be reworked. I implement the needed features and concentrate on bug fixing. A big part of my work includes ensuring MaCo processes are functioning correctly, validating inbound and outbound message forms, and verifying that data is saved in the appropriate locations. But usually my tasks look different every day: they depend on my client, their decisions, and their systems. When I finish my coding part, I send my solution to the testers in our company and once everything works as it is supposed to, our project manager transfers the code into the productive system. At the moment, I am part of a longtime project for a client focused on the IS-U fields. I also mentor junior colleagues in that field, helping them understand the IS-U environment and ensuring they have the support they need to grow.
What do you like the most about your job?
I like lots of different aspects of my job so it’s hard choosing only one. I would describe myself as the typical “nerd” so I just enjoy programming and working with software in general [laughs]. If I had to name anything in particular, I would say I am passionate about creating the best solution for our customers. It feels great to help someone achieving their business goals and succeed!
„On the other hand, my team is what makes my daily work even better.“
We have a lot of inside jokes and enjoy playful banter, but when serious problems arise, we work cohesively to find quick solutions. If one of us is flooded with tasks, we redistribute them effectively, trusting each other to handle them successfully.

Which challenge is the most recent you tackled during a project?
The biggest recent challenge was managing two back-to-back MaCo (Market Communication) projects with very tight timelines. Usually, we handle this type of project once every half a year but in 2024, the circumstances did not allow for a break between the two. Our team had limited time for analysis, development, and unit testing, while the testers also faced time pressures. On the final day, we fixed some last-minute bugs. While a few minor issues slipped through, we still consider it a success because we delivered functional solutions on time!

What do you think: What will your job look like in ten years? Will anything change?
I believe AI will significantly influence my work but certainly not in a negative way! AI will support the work in my field in lots of different ways: It will help to streamline processes, suggest efficient solutions, generate unit tests, and provide feedback on code quality. AI could also alert us to potential edge cases and security vulnerabilities, making our development work faster. To conclude, AI could take over basic tasks and give developers more time to focus on more difficult and creative steps.
"Of course, our daily tasks and generally work will change with AI but for developers, there is always going to be the need for this technology."
Do you have a ritual or a routine that starts or ends your typical day?
At the office in Győr, our ritual at the end of the day consists of a couple of rounds of table football. It’s an excellent way to relieve stress and strengthen team bonds after a productive day. Additionally, I release stiffness or tension in my body from sitting all day and I enjoy the chats with my colleagues before driving home. I really cherish the time with my team so this ritual works perfectly for me!
